Lam is one of the numbered viola da gamba and viola d’amore players in Hong Kong. Lam studied viola da gamba with Tina Chancey and Jay Elfenbein. Lam was the first local Hong Kong viola da gamba player to perform the Bach St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion with the Die Konzertisten and the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Lam was selected as one of the young talented musicians in the Spotlight on Young Musicians 2011 by the Arts Development Council. He performed series of music by A. Forqueray and Marais with Jamie Jim. In January 2011, Lam performed the viola d’amore solo in Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus by Michael Chance with the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra. Lam attended various local and international baroque masterclass by José Vázquez (in Spain and Italy), Yukimi Kambe (in Kyoto, Japan), Jonathan Manson, Phantasm, etc. In January 2015, Lam was invited to perform the Bach Sonata BWV 1028 in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. Lam completed the Diploma in Music, Bachelor Degree (Honors) in Music and Master of Music Degree (Performance) programme on viola in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. His teachers were Teng Wai, Jeremy David Williams and Cui Hong Wei. Lam also studies Baroque music practice in the Academy Early Music Ensemble coached by Benedict Cruft and Dr. Shane Leveque. With the Academy Early Music Ensemble, Lam performed with many prominent Baroque music specialists. Apart from Baroque music, Lam was invited by Hong Kong New Music Ensemble in April 2012 to perform various new compositions for viola da gamba viola d’amore by Chan Wing Wah, Yiu Siu Lung, Fung Dic Lun and Lo Ting Cheung.
